New Year’s Eve! + 2013 Calendar Giveaway!

Happy New Year! :D

I know I haven’t been too great at posting here on my blog lately (how many times have I said THAT in the last few months?), but I decided that with the impending change of year, a calendar giveaway might just be in order! :)

I recently received my first calendar orders from Color Inc, and I love how they’ve turned out.

I have several listed in my Etsy shop, you can see them HERE! They are currently 30% off  if you just can’t wait to see if you win the giveaway!

GIVEAWAY TIME!

Prize: Your choice of any of my calendars listed in my shop. Such as the one below. I have just the wall-style ones left, with several photos to choose from.

The cool thing about all of these calendars is that after the year, (or the month) is over, all you have to do is cut the calendar part off, and you have a lovely print (or set of prints) to frame and hang!

TO ENTER:

Comment below. I don’t care what you say; tell me which calendar you like best, your new year’s resolution, or what you did this morning. Just say something! I will randomly pick a winner using Random.org on Saturday, January 12th.

One entry per person!

Go on, do it now! Wouldn’t you like to win? :D

One of my Favorite Things

I love mail.

I love getting it and I love sending it. On Monday, I got a package from DK Miller of Shutterbug Eye Photography.

She was offering a giveaway on her new blog site for one her photo pendants, just like this one: Bronze Pendant.

And guess what? I won!

I love getting mail, and I love winning prizes. :)

It’s beautifully made with a rounded glass front, and a nice not-too-heavy-but-not-too-light weight. The photo is an antiqued Ferris wheel print – very cool.

(If you want to see the pendant listing, check out Shutterbug Eye’s Etsy shop)

These colors are pretty much perfect for my style, but she does have other pendant styles and colors to choose from!

Thanks again, Diane! I love my new necklace! :)

She was throwing the giveaway to celebrate her photo pendants being gifted to the press at GBK’s MTV Movie Awards Gift Lounge. Check out her blog at theshutterbugeye.com/blog! Thanks again Diane!

March 2nd: the apple of my (camera) eye

Hi All!

Guess what time it is! Yes, it’s time to announce the winner of the 100+ followers contest!

I’ve been enjoying writing this blog for the past few months, and I’m happy to have all of you following along with me on these adventures. I chose the winner the old fashioned way, writing down all the names of the people who commented, and dropped them in a bucket.Isaac drew out the winner’s name…

*drum roll please*…Stephanie Carter! Congratulations! I’ll be in contact with you to get your address, and other information!

And today’s challenge photo was “fruit.” Enjoy!

Things I need (read: want) to do this week:

  • build a light box
  • buy and plant broccoli and -maybe- cabbage seeds in preparation for this summer
  • try my hand at homemade Oreo cookies

Oh? What’s that you say? 100 followers?

I made it to 100 followers today, folks! Welcome to those of you just joining my little blog. I’m so happy you’re here!

And, as promised, I want to offer a gift, as a way of saying thank you for following me!

Here’s how it’s going to work: go to my Facebook page, here, and comment on my contest post (you’ll see it there). Every follower is eligible, whether you follow me here, or if you ‘like’ my Facebook page, just be sure to leave a comment to enter your name in! On Friday, March 2nd, I will randomly chose one winner! The winner gets to choose between a dozen homemade whole wheat bagels (made by me, see this post) or a set of five photo note cards (my photography)!

On to the photos! Today’s photo doubles as an example of what you could win if I pick your name!

In other news, today felt like Christmas to me! I’m not even joking. Our mail carrier is the cause, and not entirely in a good way.

I returned an actual Christmas gift I got from my sister (Alexis), that happened to a duplicate, and so I had myself a little Amazon credit. I finally decided to spend it on a wireless shutter release remote and a set of filters. I can’t express how awesome that remote is. It is the coolest thing I’ve spent $15 on in a long time! Yay! I can’t wait to start putting it to use by taking more natural looking photos of Isaac and I (as well as stealth photos of other people…).

The filters will be a good addition also, I’m excited to try them outside on a bright day by a lake! :) Thanks Alexis, for these awesome new toys!

Anyway, so where does the mail carrier fall into this story? Well, here at Emerald Heights, they have a policy where if you get a package that’s too big for your mailbox, the mail carrier leaves it with the main office, and they put a notice slip in your mail box. Well, my mail carrier didn’t. The only reason I knew it was over there was because I could check the delivery status on Amazon.com.

So,  I went over to pick up my one package from the office this morning, and, surprise! I had THREE waiting for me! Why? Because the aforementioned mail carrier didn’t leave me a notice in my mailbox two other times in the past week! I had a Valentine’s package from my sister (again, Thanks Alexis! Yum yum yum!) and a package from a mysterious source….it’s the lens mug look-a-like on my wishlist page. So funny! And very realistic! Thanks mystery person! :D
