August 7th, Day 219: Inukshuk

My sister and her boyfriend recently went on a cruise up to Alaska. Along the way, she picked up this little guy for me.

He is called an inukshuk, meaning “image of man” and he and his larger fellows were used by the Inuit tribes in the northern parts of Canada as guideposts for travelers (similar to the southwest’s cairns) as well as markers for safe water crossing spots, campsites, and spiritual sites.

Mine is my newest model, and I plan to carry him with me for when inspiration strikes. :)

Maybe I’ll even introduce him to Chewbacca….
