May Fourth

I had a small community garden plot last summer near where we lived. We have since moved from that town, and I’m part of a larger community garden here.

Over the last several weeks I’ve been starting seeds out on the deck, preparing them for the planting season. I have a bunch of sunflower seeds I harvested from last years crop, and I’ve started some of them too. A lot of them, actually. And I still have loads left!

I’ve planted some in my garden, some in the community part of the garden, and given some away.

This is what looks at me from the deck each morning:

sunflower starts

“Plant us! Please plant us!”

Who am I to say no to faces like that?

(And yes, my plants talk to me…..don’t yours?)

  1. Hey! Good for you! I love doing that – saving seeds and planting them the next year. It’s so nice to be able to say, many years later, “I’ve had this plant for …so many …years.”

I want to hear from you! I love comments, and suggestions. Please leave all of yours, here:
